Born Into A Lie Of Crime by Ron Isherwood
$19.99 – $30.00
Writing from bitter experience, Ron Isherwood has laid bare a boyhood in the tough Melbourne waterfront which inevitably led him to spend nearly two decades of his lifetime in Australian prisons.
Ron’s father was an elected member of the feared Painters and Dockers Union. He was tough, violent and merciless. Ron’s uncles, their friends and friends’ friends, were all notorious criminals. By 17 years of age, Ron was already in the renowned Pentridge Prison, charged with four attempted murders.
Born Into A Lie of Crime is not pretty reading, but it’s an honest and raw story of a young boy who started of life on the wrong path and never questioned the course he was on, because it was the direction he had learnt on his father’s knee: “Don’t get caught and don’t admit to anything!”
Note: the cover pages are real photos of Ron and his police record.

I have recently finished Ron’s Book (as told by Ron & John Kellick) – Born into a lie of crime. It’s an amazing read by an amazing Human Being in Ron. Through counselling I knew some of Ron’s lifetime stories. however this gave me a far deeper understanding of his remarkable life & that of so many others, who suffered through personal trauma at the hands of many family member & close people in their lives & also the majority of the corrupt underworld prison guards & some police officers. It was great to hear that a few of them showed compassion at times to fellow humans. It is the best book I have ever read & certainly reinforced the great respect that I have for Ron & fellow sufferers of trauma. I would strongly encourage anyone who wants to read a fantastic book about true life and gain insights as to how to be a better human to read Ron’s book. I again sincerely thank you Ron Cheers Paul Healy

This is a fast paced, heartfelt story that will have you weeping and laughing as you journey with Ron through his tangled and troubled life. What emerges from this story is a human being who can love and be loved. A man who now reaches out to help others. That is the miracle of this life so wonderfully told. I read the book over three days and found it hard to put down. I eagerly await the next volume.

One of the best books I’ve read. Knowing what Ron is like today and what he has been through in his life, it is insane. I respect him greatly. It shows that if anyone is struggling with addiction it is possible to come out on the other side, to be a good person and have a life. I would highly recommend anyone to read it and I can’t wait to read the next one!
